MSC Update - December 2023

Katy Wyszynski, Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine, MS4

The medical student council wishes you a happy holiday season! Take a moment to reflect on how much you’ve accomplished this year – whether you’re completing your first semester of medical school or wrapping up residency interviews. The TCEP MSC is so proud of everything you’ve accomplished. I encourage all students to also take time for self-care during this winter break, and hopefully spend some time with family and friends this month.

TCEP MSC has begun planning for our annual in-person conference at CONNECT 2024. We encourage you all to register for the conference. Student programming will take place on April 20th from 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. at the Margaritaville Lake Resort in Lake Conroe, TX. There are several exciting opportunities for medical students during the conference.

  • TCEP Annual Research Forum – Students are encouraged to apply. Be sure to submit your application before the January 14th deadline. Selected abstracts will be presented Saturday, April 20th during the Research Forum.
  • Student programming will include a Program Director panel, Residency Fair, and hands-on learning opportunities where you’ll learn relevant skills for emergency medicine, plus networking opportunities with leaders in the field.
  • TCEP’s 50th Anniversary Celebration - Saturday evening will be a family-friendly celebration of the 50th anniversary of TCEP, and students are absolutely encouraged to attend. We hope to see you there!

For those of you cannot attend the conference this year, the MSC will be hosting a few webinars and trainings virtually starting in January. We encourage all medical students to follow us on social media to learn more about these events.
