MSC UpdateOctober 2024Happy Fall TCEP-MSC! Whether you have recently submitted applications, are studying for step, began clinicals, or took your first exams, we hope you realize how much you have accomplished to get where you are. We (Kevin and Katherine) have just submitted our residency applications and we, like many fourth-year medical students, expected to feel a great sense of relief and accomplishment. In reality, we felt the briefest moment of relief, and immediately began looking towards the next stressful step of the process. This is a familiar pattern to many medical students, and unfortunately, it won’t change unless you do! We are clearly still learning this, but we encourage you to take the time to stop, breathe, and be proud of yourself, no matter what is coming next. Let’s allow ourselves to reflect on those positive moments. We are so proud of you, and you should be too! In looking to the MSC’s accomplishments over the past few months we are proud of the hard work the executive team has put forward. Here are a few of the details…
Now what is to come? Well, we are excited to soon roll out a state-wide TCEP-MSC monthly journal club. The goal is for us students to learn from and connect with residency program residents and leadership. This includes how to dissect and discuss emergency medicine literature, prepare for away rotations (that often include journal club), and provide another networking opportunity across the state. If you have not already heard as well, the annual TCEP conference will be April 13-15 in Austin. Sign-ups are on the website. We hope to see many of you there! You will not want to miss out. That is all for now. Keep up the tremendous work. Remember your accomplishments and thank those around you! As always, should you need to reach out, please contact us at [email protected]. Cheers, Kevin Chao (Chair) and Katherine Young (Secretary) |
