MSC Update

December 2024

Happy Holidays MSC!

You know what that means…time to answer those private medical questions from the person sitting next to you at dinner. If it hasn’t happened, it will soon. In all seriousness, I hope you are able to enjoy some quality time with friends and family this season. Although things can often get chaotic during medical school, having those go to people are crucial to maintain a steady course. I encourage you to step away from the books, thoughts, and flashcards whenever possible. Instead, replace them with some laughs, smiles, cheers. Don’t forget to share about yourself and all the cool things you have done too. There is a reason why you get those private medical questions: you are smart and doing great things.

Along with wishing you a Happy Holidays I am excited to announce some upcoming projects the MSC team has been diligently working on for you. First, we heard you ask for better access to mentors and so will be rolling out a statewide formal mentorship program. Finding mentors is hard, so our goal is to pair students without an emergency medicine mentor with one. Stay tuned for mentee registration coming after the Holidays.

Second, we wanted to better connect students and residents across the state and will launch a virtual journal club: TCEP-MSC Happy Hour in the New Year. Mark your calendar for our first session on February 25th from 6:30-7:30pm. MSC Happy Hour includes a relaxed and fun hour of discussing an emergency medicine article and connecting with the emergency medicine community.

Lastly, TCEP CONNECT is coming quickly! Make sure you register and submit your abstracts. This is a great place to network, learn, and present. Trust me, you will not want to miss out.

Keep doing great things and enjoy the Holidays!

Cheers,
Kevin Chao
