MSC Update

December 2025

Hello TCEP!

On behalf of the TCEP-MSC, we wish you a strong finish to the semester! As the fall term comes to a close, we wanted to share a brief recap of TCEP-MSC programming from earlier this year. This fall, the TCEP-MSC hosted 17 virtual events with an estimate of over 375+ attendeesWe truly appreciate your continued support throughout the year and remain committed to providing our members with the very best opportunities possible!

Speaking of new opportunities, we are excited to announce a new pilot program titled the PS Series. The goal of this new series is to provide peer-to-peer advice for students during times that frequently asked questions may arise, such as applying for away rotations on VSLO, making rank lists, and many other scenarios in the future!

Our first event in this series – “PS From a MS4”, offers fourth-year medical students the opportunity to provide insights into VSLO and setting up away rotations. This event will be held virtually on January 6, 2026, at 7:30 p.m.

We are also planning on a second program, “PS from an Intern”, where PGY-1 EM residents will give advice on finalizing your rank lists for residency! Stay tuned for more information.

Finally, we are excited to share that applications are now OPEN for the Medical Student Representative position on TCEP’s Board of DirectorsCatherine Pivalizza, a fourth-year at UT Health McGovern Medical School and the current Medical Student Representative, describes the role as a one-year appointment that includes participating in TCEP’s quarterly Board of Directors meetings as a non-voting member. Meetings are held both in person and virtually, though she notes that attending in person is especially valuable. Serving as the liaison between the Board and the Medical Student Committee (MSC), the representative shares updates, relays requests, and helps bridge communication between the two groups. This role offers a unique opportunity to sit at both tables – the Board of Directors and the MSC – providing insight into key issues in emergency medicine while learning directly from leaders who shape the specialty”. Apply today!

Wishing you a great holiday break,

Andrew Flanagan, TCEP MSC-Chair
