MSC Update

June 2025

TCEP MSC members,

It is an honor and privilege to introduce myself as the newly elected chair for the Texas College of Emergency Physicians – Medical School Committee (TCEP-MSC). I am an upcoming 3rd year medical student at the University of North Texas Health Science Center – Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine (UNTHSC-TCOM). My passion and love for Emergency Medicine started before medical school during my time as an Emergency Medicine scribe. Since starting medical school, I have been fortunate enough to expand upon my interests through the amazing student interest groups on campus in addition to the plethora of opportunities that the TCEP-MSC has hosted throughout the years. This has inspired me to serve on the TCEP-MSC to help curate opportunities that can enhance the student experience for emergency medicine bound students across the state. Our mission in the TCEP-MSC is to enhance the student experiences by providing Emergency medicine bound medical students with informational resources, networking opportunities, and guidance to navigate the residency match process. We look forward to working with Emergency Medicine bound students across all our medical schools in Texas.

As the new TCEP-MSC transitions into their roles, I wanted to take the time to highlight some of the milestones that the 2024-2025 TCEP-MSC were able to accomplish last year:

  • 300 MSC Members
  • 100+ Medical Students that attended TCEP CONNECT last spring
  • Increased TCEP-MSC social media following by 20%
  • 18 total MSC Events, with 550 attendees

The TCEP-MSC has great plans this upcoming year to continue previously successful events like the Meet the Residency Series, Fall Colloquium, and of course, TCEP- Connect in the spring. In addition to these historic events, we have made it our mission this year to grow the TCEP-MSC brand and highlight the benefits of being a TCEP/ACEP/EMRA member. Our goal is to promote the benefits of becoming a member of these national organizations that advocate for Emergency Medicine at a state and national level.

We are excited to announce dates for our annual “Meet the Residency” series which will take place from late July to late September via zoom. Please be on the lookout for RSVP links to attend these events to network and learn more about some of the amazing Emergency Medicine residency programs in the state of Texas. It will be a pleasure to serve you all as chair this year, and I look forward to connecting with everyone throughout the year at all our TCEP-MSC Sponsored events.
