Immediate Past President's Message

Despite the rain and weather, TCEP celebrated our 50th anniversary last month in Margaritaville in Lake Conroe. A great time was had by all with many decked out in 50s themed attire while trying our best to hula-hoop and ax throw! It was so nice to see many familiar faces as well as some new ones and to celebrate with everyone.

Our annual business meeting also took place during the weekend festivities where numerous awards were presented and elections took place for the Board of Directors. We are very excited to have some new faces join us on the Board of Directors including Dr. Ben Lesson, Dr. Julien Mahler, and Dr. Michael Parsa as full members of the board; as well as Dr. Brook Danboise as the young physician member of the board. We're thrilled to welcome back Dr. Cassidy Lane to the board as our resident member, after her prior role as the medical student member. Additionally, we extend a warm welcome to Catherine Pivalizza, our new medical student representative. Internally we elected Dr. Marcus Sims to the executive committee as secretary for the Board of Directors. I would also like to say thank you to several members of the board who are leaving us for their service to the College. This includes Immediate Past President, Dr. Sterling Overstreet as well as Board members Dr. Anant Patel, Dr. Ciaura Brown and Abbey Pastorelle.

Awards presented at our annual meeting included the Michael Wainscott Legacy award which was presented to Dr. Lauren Bayliss as well as the James Hayes Legacy award which was awarded to Dr. Hilary Fairbrother. The President’s award was presented to the Corpus Christi Emergency Medicine Residency Program for their amazing advocacy efforts this past year that allowed their program to be fully reinstated after the announced closure this past October. We could not be prouder of their amazing work and a big congratulations to all award winners!

And finally as my time as president of TCEP has come to an end and I am happy to become the immediate past president I would like to say thank you to all of you for allowing me to serve as your president this past year. It has been an honor.
